The MacroSpike Economic Calendar serves several purposes:
- Calendar shows only market-moving economic news and reduces noise by filtering out non-tradable events (FILTERING PURPOSE)
- Traders check the calendar at the start of a new week to see their trade schedule and corresponding TRADE PLANS (PRE-TRADE INFORMATION PURPOSE)
- Each calendar entry is linked to a CHART button (POST-TRADE ANALYSIS PURPOSE)
We recommend the following routine in order to be well-prepared for upcoming trades.
On Sunday evening check the MacroSpike Calendar at https://www.macrospike.com/calendar
Be sure to be logged in as a user. The Calendar is visible only to MacroSpike subscribers.
Release Time | Time of the report is EST (Eastern Standard Time). If you live in another time zone, make sure to add or subtract the hours that you are away from the EST zone. |
Country | Currencies are linked to countries whose government and private agencies release pieces of economic data (reports, events) that have an impact on the country’s currency, bond, and the stock market. The 2nd column shows the underlying country and flag. |
Name | The Name of the Report is the type of economic indicator or news event that is being released |
Actual number | The actual number displays the actual result of the news event and can be seen AFTER the news is released |
Expected number | Exp. shows the median analyst forecast for the relevant report. The Expected number – the actual number gives you the deviation from the forecast. This is the grade of the surprise of the release and one of the main trade entry criteria for a news trade. |
Prior number | Prior gives you the actual number for the same event in the prior release period (last week, month, quarter, etc). |
.
TRADE PLAN BUTTON
→ There is a Trade Plan attached to each tradable event that can be opened by clicking on the Trade Plan Button.
If there is no TRADE PLAN BUTTON next to an event, the event comes without a trade signal. This could be either because we are actively monitoring the event but are not trading the release or because there are no numbers available for the release. FX BOLT and FX BOLT EA for MacroTrader cannot be used for this type of event.
CHART BUTTON
→ After a report’s release, you can find the charts of the related instruments here.
